"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." Pablo Picasso
Well this part is for fun really but it does bring into focus the abiding love affair between Bozcaada and the world of art. For many years now the island has attracted artists from various genres. Providing a haven for photographers, the island has also been the setting for several successful Turkish films and more recently a television drama but unquestionably the greatest appeal has always been to those who simply love to paint. Lured and captivated by the serenity and beauty of the place, this particular body of artists has successfully carved a niche for themselves here over the years.
Wander around the charming cobbled streets with their tightly-knit old Greek houses brimming with trailing vines, bougainvillea, orleandar and bright blossoms in every hue imaginable, move inland and see the delightful stonehouses amidst lush vineyards stretching as far as the eye can see or stroll along a deserted beach and it is easy to understand why so many artists have been inspired.
The island really is a beautiful canvas!
The beaches are seductively Sorolla, the tea gardens temptingly Renoir, the flowers purely O'Keeffe and the landscape invitingly Cezanne. Be inspired!
There are several small art galleries on the island, notably Rengigul, all of which host exhibitions over the summer months. During the day there is also a children's workshop at Rengigul where young children can paint, draw and model clay. It is a bit of creative fun for the youngsters and there is always someone there to help and supervise the children.

It is probably fair to say that we all have a budding artist in our family. Our's is Alice and we call her our 'Little Picasso'. You can see some of her masterpieces exhibited in Alice's Gallery.
If you would like your child's artwork to be exhibited online then we will be pleased to add it to the gallery. Send a good quality image together with the child's name, age and location to the following
